All our ski and board instructors are certified by the CSIA or snowboard certified by the CASI, ensuring the best possible ski and board instruction for all ages and abilities. HEIGHTS TYKES (Ages 3 to 5 years)

Minimum group size 2, maximum 5 students, per Instructor and Assistant.
MORNING ONLY begins 10:00 to 11:30AM: Ski only
Saturday OR Sunday AM only

Beginner and up
Your child will enjoy the fun and joy of skiing matched to their ability and interest in a fun and playful environment. Tykes need assistance getting on and off the chair.

JUNIOR PROGRAM (Ages 6 to 8 years)

Saturday or Sunday AM or PM 10:00 to 11:30 or 1:00 to 2:30
Minimum group size 3 maximum 8
Fee - $200.00
This program is designed for all levels of skier in this age group. Students will work on skill development, safety and fun so they can explore the mountain!

YOUTH SKI PROG (Ages 8 to 11 years)

Saturday or Sunday AM or PM 10:00 to 11:30 or 1:00 to 2:30
Minimum group size 4 maximum 10
Fee - $200.00
This program is designed for all levels of skier in the age group covering skill development, versatility, fun and safety. We endeavor to have students of the same age together. If you are a first time skier we recommend a couple of private lessons prior to beginning this program.

TEEN Club! – (Ages 12 to 18) NEW!

Saturday and Sunday AM and PM
Minimum registration required 8
The Gang meets at 10:00am and 1:00pm
Fee - $275.00
This is NEW! Beginners through to Advanced and experts! –Hang out with your peers, practice, train, learn and have fun! Ski or snowboard! And Freestyle are all here! If you have just taken up the sport you will be shown professionally how to use and maneuver safely so you can travel with your friends. If you are already proficient but want to improve, learn faster – yet control – on challenging terrain. This will include terrain park, jumps spins etc, some gates, glades etc. Final day will be a “Fun Show” and maybe competition decided by the teens!

Instructor Training (Ages 14 +)

Saturday OR Sunday PM Only
Minimum registration required 6 per group
Fee - $200.00
This 6-week program will train you and prepare you for the next level of certification courses. If you are already certified or are interested in what it might take to become a ski pro. You should be a competent parallel skier to participate. A level 1and level II certification course will be available in weeks 7 and 8 (cost additional)

JACK IT UP!! FOUR WEEKS Beginning Saturday Jan 9, 2010

10:15 AM Only Sat. or Sun.
Minimum registration required 4 per group
Fee - $110.00 Intermediate level is a prerequisite.
Stuck in a rut? Still skiing the “same old way”? Can’t keep up with your friends? Wife? Husband ? Children? We can help! If you’re just not satisfied with your turns, this program is for you. Ski some of the more difficult terrain with confidence. We have organized this program to get you out in the morning. Your instructor will be one of the best and flexible to meet the group needs. This will let you get any children in programs out and time to practice in your free time in the afternoon.

JACK IT UP!! FOUR WEEKS Beginning Saturday February 6, 2010 10:15 AM Only. Sat. or Sun.

This program is designed for all levels of boarders in the age group. Students who have been in the Junior program will generally move into this group at the Novice level. We will begin covering the five basic techniques in boarding. We endeavor to have students of the same age together. Instructor Assistants are not normally provided for this age group however the exception may occur with the young beginner.

Have a blast with some spring skiing. Spend March Break at the Heights for three fun-filled days of skiing.

INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMS

Instructional Programs run:
4 to 8 weeks

Start: Saturday, January 9, 2010 to Sunday February 27, 2010.
Lessons are 1.5 hours in length unless otherwise indicated.

Morning lessons are 10:00–11:30am
Afternoon Lessons are 1:00–2:30pm

Please be at the assembly area at least 5 minutes before the start and honour our program times.

NOTE: 8-Week Snow Sport AND 9-week Race Programs may be eligible for an income tax deduction

ALL PROGRAM FEES INCLUDE APPLICABLE TAXES
Age requirements are as of Dec 31/09

Program awards and evaluation presentation will be held on final day of program.
The End-of-Program Dinner is free to program participants.
Non-participants can purchase tickets from the Club office.

DESCRIPTION OF LEVELS OF ABILITY

CHILDREN AGES 3 TO 5 (STEPS A THRU E)
Designed by the C.S.I.A. for new young skiers. The participants move from the beginner child using the bottom of the hill and learning to glide, through to initiating turns in a wedge.

JUNIOR, YOUTH, TEEN AND ADULT GROUPS Steps 1 thru 9
Beginner: No Prerequisite
This is the new skier. No previous ski experience is required.
This skier will learn to stop and turn and get on and off the chair by themselves.

Novice: C.S.I.A. Step 1 to 3
This skier is skiing on green and easy blue slopes. At this level the skier is able to make snowplow turns and stop. Skiing is done on moderate terrain generally green trails. This skier must be able turn and stop in the snow plow and be able to get on an off the chair unaided

Intermediate: C.S.I.A. Step 4 to 6
This skier must have achieved the C.S.I.A. Step 3, and is now skiing with skis coming parallel earlier in the turn, on green and easy blue slopes. This skier uses blue slopes with ease, and skis are staying parallel throughout the turn

Advanced: C.S.I.A. Step 7 to 9
This skier must have achieved the C.S.I.A. Step 6, and is now skiing with skis parallel on intermediate terrain. This skier is comfortable on blue and black slopes.

The Heights offers a private ski locker room. Snowboard and ski lock ups are also available to ensure the safety of your equipment.
