CHILDREN AGES 3 TO 5 (STEPS A THRU E)
Designed by the C.S.I.A. for new young skiers. The participants move from the beginner child using the bottom of the hill and learning to glide, through to initiating turns in a wedge.
JUNIOR, YOUTH, TEEN AND ADULT GROUPS Steps 1 thru 9
Beginner: No Prerequisite
This is the new skier. No previous ski experience is required.
This skier will learn to stop and turn and get on and off the chair by themselves.
Novice: C.S.I.A. Step 1 to 3
This skier is skiing on green and easy blue slopes. At this level the skier is able to make snowplow turns and stop. Skiing is done on moderate terrain generally green trails. This skier must be able turn and stop in the snow plow and be able to get on an off the chair unaided
Intermediate: C.S.I.A. Step 4 to 6
This skier must have achieved the C.S.I.A. Step 3, and is now skiing with skis coming parallel earlier in the turn, on green and easy blue slopes. This skier uses blue slopes with ease, and skis are staying parallel throughout the turn
Advanced: C.S.I.A. Step 7 to 9
This skier must have achieved the C.S.I.A. Step 6, and is now skiing with skis parallel on intermediate terrain. This skier is comfortable on blue and black slopes. |
